About This Calculator

This calculator estimates your take-home (net) pay after federal income tax and FICA (Social Security and Medicare) withholding, using current IRS tax brackets and the standard deduction. It does not include state income tax or pre-tax deductions like 401(k) contributions — see the Paycheck Calculator for a more detailed breakdown.

How This Is Calculated

Take-Home Pay = Gross Salary − Federal Income Tax − FICA (Social Security + Medicare)

A $75,000 single-filer salary nets roughly $61,600/year after federal tax and FICA — about $2,369 per biweekly paycheck.

Assumptions

  • Uses 2026 federal tax brackets and standard deduction (IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32).
  • Uses 2026 FICA rates: 6.2% Social Security (up to the $184,500 wage base) and 1.45% Medicare (SSA Publication No. 05-10003).
  • Does not include state or local income tax, which varies significantly by location.
  • Does not include pre-tax deductions (401(k), HSA, health premiums) that would lower taxable income.

Frequently Asked Questions

This calculator doesn't include state/local taxes, pre-tax deductions like 401(k) or health insurance, or tax credits you may qualify for — all of which affect your actual paycheck. It also assumes the standard deduction rather than itemizing.
